CHRIS HARRINGTON.
C.H. Not only the European bumper sticker of Switzerland,
but also the initials of a voice and rock sound that drew a second round
of critical accolade with the 2005 sophomore LP release:
YOU THE PROVIDER.
"' ...You the Provider' would be a prime target for FM radio play
under more ideal circumstances..."
-Minneapolis StarTribune
"...a penchant for classic melodies, an album of distinction, no
lightweight pop confection..."
-The Pulse of the Twin Cities
"Lovely voice, joyous dark tunes." - Chan Pauling:
The Suburbs
Harrington had some heavy weight drum contributions from Jason
Mackenroth (Henry Rollins, Daniel Lanios) and Minneapolis Rock
Veteran Jacques Wait on vintage analog production &
bass. With voice at the helm, painting vivid lyrical images, Harrington
sets out to explore the mysterious legacy his late father left behind.
YOU THE PROVIDER also features the acclaimed "In Awe Again"
video, featured in the notable
Minneapolis "Sound Unseen" Film and Music festival.
For those of you about to enjoy C.H. for the first time, here's a bit
of background: At age 10, Chris began playing guitar and drums in Minneapolis
where he grew up, but quit playing all together during high school. He
came to his senses by the time he got to college in St. Paul and co-founded
the punk band: Mother-Goose. Post-graduation, he left for two 'exile'
years of graduate studies in Trier, Germany. He took
to busking & solo travel to fuel his songwriting muse. It was on those
European cobblestone streets where Chris developed his voice and songwriting
chops while earning a plane ticket home. After his return, he pursued
an office job in the retail music industry while preparing for his first
full length release, STARTER. Self taught and unbound
by songwriting formulas, he laid down melodic, quirky songs which earned
some darn good rookie press.
Thereafter, CH toured from Toronto to Chicago, L.A. to Butte, Montana-
promoting STARTER. Then musically things began to change. He reclaimed
the rhythm he enjoyed as a kid and began to hear and lay down full band
music. He recorded the Demo Electric EP with with friends The
Melismatics and picked up a couple vintage electric guitars and
dusted off his childhood drum kit.
Currently, C.H. is working on his 3rd full length LP & producing several
other rock outfits in his new renewable-energy-powered studio: Clyde's
Coal Chute, in South Minneapolis. With this forecasted
07' release, you can look forward to hearing Chris perform his own rhythm
section. You can also look forward to seeing him do the same live, with
his "virCHual" (Virtual
CH) show, featuring a C.H. rockin' rhythm section choreographed on monitor
& silver screen...
